31 Jan Charlie Milo Trio
It’s funny how when you put something “out there” things happen. Apparently that’s called the Law of Attraction and fyi, Oprah is a big believer. So the day I decided to make music a focus in my work for 2013, I logged into my twitter feed, which I hadn’t done since Sep 2010. I try to get on board with the social networking, but I just can’t seem to get into it. That’s another thing I need to work on this year. Anyway, when I logged in, this is the first thing I saw in my feed:
COS Tweet News is out! paper.li/csindependent/… ▸ Top stories today via @charliemilotrio @yeezytaughtme_b @cafevelobikes
Having not been in the twitter-sphere for more than two years, I had no idea what paper.li was so I clicked the link. What I saw was a newspaper style view of tweets relating to Colorado Springs that the Indy had put together. As I scrolled down the page, there it was…a highlighted tweet from Charlie Milo Trio asking if anyone was interested in filming an upcoming recording session. I had photographed Charlie’s Trio, a few years ago at the Black Sheep when they were backing Jeremy Facknitz so I thought I’d send him a quick email. A couple of weeks later, I found myself in Greg Cannava’s basement studio, photographing a recording session. It was a slightly different Trio, Charlie, of course, on bass with ‘Lyrick’ Victoria Lipscomb on drums and Daniel Roc on guitar.
Not a bad way to spend an evening, listening to three talented musicians jam. I’m excited to hear the finished product.
Here’s are a few images from the night.
And a slideshow with a few more images from the night:
Here’s an older track they have up on soundcloud:
