08 Apr A Walk Along the Rhein River
Every other year my family goes on vacation to Germany to visit my mom’s side of the family. They live in a town called Ketsch, which is right on Rhein River. We have a few must do’s every time we go… we walk along the river, we visit Heidelberg Castle, we spend a day at the Schlossgarten in Schwetzingen, we visit the cemetery, and we go to the Backfisch Fest. Our last trip was back in August. These are a few photos from one of our walks along the river. Stay tuned for more family photos from our trips to Germany.

Posted at 16:30h, 03 Novemberthe backfischfest is a 10 day festival similar to a county fair but without all the 4-H/livestock stuff. there are small time amusement park rides, games, live music, food and of course a HUGE beer tent. backfisch is baked fish and there is a fisherman component to the festival. i’m not 100% sure on this but i think for a few weeks before the festival there is a fishing competition and the person who catches the biggest fish is named the king of the fischerfest. hope that helps.
